A to Z Challenge: R is for… Roundup
The Visibility Planner is all about raising your profile and visibility through the things you do focusing on 4 main areas: PR and Marketing (inc Social Media), Networking, Presenting and Writing. For the 2020 A to Z Challenge we decided to focus on one of these aspects – writing! As the world continues to go into lock-down due to Covid-19, it is the perfect time to work on raising your visibility through your writing as you can do it from the comfort of your home.
R is for… Roundup
An expert roundup is a type of blog post that features contributions by multiple experts or showcases content from a variety of sources.
Typically the host blogger will provide a question or a topic for discussion and reach out to various experts to share their insights. Alternatively, the blogger will curate the round-up themselves.
If you can’t find a roundup aimed at an audience within your niche, it can be a great idea to host your own. Round-up Posts are great for sharing on social media and the more you share other people’s content, the more you raise your profile within your niche.
01 Curate Content
Start by curating content. To curate content for your round-up use Google Alerts and Subscriptions to other blogs/content within your niche so that you get the content in your inbox. Ask for submissions. You can then review this and pick out the best content to feature.
02 Write your Roundup
Most round-ups are done on a monthly basis (although some people for example if they only write compelling round-ups might be them weekly). Look at other styles of round-ups to find a style to suit you (and your niche).
03 Share your Roundup
Let people know that you have included them in your round-up. This can be done by leaving a comment on the source article. This lets them know that you have included them in your round-up and is also visible to others who reads their blog.
You can also create a series of social media content such as scheduled tweets (and include the twitter handles of any source content creators). Again this allows them to get notification of the roundup and provides a simple way for them to share the round-up to their audience by retweeting.
Do you write a round-up for your niche? Share in the comments.
