When attending networking event a simple way to stand out and to raise your profile is to ask a question of the speaker when they ask if anyone has any questions.

When asking the question state your name and where you are from (which helps raise your profile) and then ask your question. This can also help people approach you after the end of the talk if they want to ask you a further question or get in touch.

If you are hosting an event, you might also want to help encourage others get the most out of the event by asking them to state their name and company before they ask the question so help enable them make the most of the opportunity as well.
