B is for… Build a Brand

As more and more networking is taking place remotely whether this is through online/virtual events or because your networking conversations are taking place on social media it is important to establish a strong brand.

Your brand should be personal, authentic and uniquely you. You and your personal brand should be recognisable. When networking first impressions count. Being “on brand” and have a clean and cohesive look can help you make a good first impression. In addition to this building a strong brand can also make you more memorable.

Having a brand makes it easier for people to recognise and remember you.

This means that when you pop up in their newsfeed on social media they know that they have spoken to you before and/or can easily find you. Or if they don’t already know you, people will learn to recognise you (and people are more likely to engage with someone that they are familiar with / recognise as they are keen to build relationships.)

Do you have a “personal brand”? If so, what have your done to stand out from the crowd. Share in the comments.

The more I learn about this, the more I feel like I’m failing at this.
I learned this month that some people don’t know I’m a guy, and someone who has known me for almost a decade didn’t know I’m a Lenni-Lenape. I mean, that’s right there in my name.

It’s hard to believe the blogging challenge is almost over for 2021. Then the after survey, reflections, and the road trip sign-up.
Plus, I’m taking part in the Bout of Books read-a-thon in May. So much excitement!
