Ways to Build Relationships: Volunteer

There are many ways that you can help people. One BIG way that you can do this is to volunteer your time.

This might be volunteering your time to do volunteer work / CSR activities, it might be to volunteer as part of a committee or other volunteer position of responsibility.

But it doesn’t always have to be something BIG. It doesn’t always have to be a massive time drain. You can keep it simple and use volunteering to nuture individual relationships.

How?

By helping members of your own personal network with a goal or project that is important to them . That’s right! Something that is important to them (not you). Ask THEM what you can help THEM with.

One you have asked make sure that you choose when to offer help strategically. Before volunteering / offering / accepting make sure you check out what needs to be done first and that you are clear about what is expected and what you are offering.

Be specific and only commit when you can deliver.

Always deliver on your commitments otherwise you may be considered unreliable. Don’t commit if you can’t deliver/follow through.
