NTFB Blog Posts - A to Z of Social Media or Networking

E is for… Engagement (and analytics)

Networking is about engaging. You wouldn’t go to a networking event and not talk to anyone. You wouldn’t go to a networking event and only shout random statements from the corner.

Therefore you shouldn’t do it on social media.

Part of your social media strategy should be to engage with your clients and customers, contacts that you know in real life (keep the conversation going) and influencers.

When engaging you should also look at your own stats and analytics to see what is working for you. How much engagement are you getting? How much are you engaging with others?

Social Media Statistics & Analytics

LinkedIn have very few statistics that you can usefully use. If you are using LinkedIn there are a number of statistics that you can look at:

  • Personal Page – Followers and Searches
  • Personal Page – Articles and Post Activity
  • Your Company Page – Analytics
  • Groups – Members

You can get an easy snapshop of your twitter activity on their analytics page. This includes your top tweets and the engagement rates (clicks, likes, retweets etc).  This is really easy to use and you can tell immediately what is doing well.

To get analytics on Instagram you need to have a business account. Instagram insights will track your followers your reach and the engagement actions of your audience such as profile views and website clicks.

Facebook Insights do something similar and set out your reach and engagement so you can see what is working well.

Finally if you are using a social media management platform they will normally also have their own integrated analytics.

Whatever you are using – check out your analytics and work out what activities you need to be doing to boost your activities.

Thank you for stopping by during the A to Z Challenge.
