Guest Blogging: How to write a Guest Blogging Bio
Your Guest Post Biography is to help tell the audience about who you are and what you are all about. When guest blogging this is usually the only place that you should / can include self-promotional back links. This might include links back to your website or blog, or a product or service etc.
What should your guest blogging biography include?
This should follow your normal elevator pitch or bio with key information about yourself. It should include:
- your background and niche;
- your experience and credentials;
- where they can find you and find out more.
However, what you write and link to in this section will depend on what your Guest Blogging Goals are.
Here are some examples:
- If your goal is to get good backlinks. Your bio should include a link back to your website with your target anchor text.
- If your goal is to get traffic back to your website, then you should include a link back to a specific page on your website (specifically think about what you want to link back to e.g. a
prdocut or service). - If your goal is to increase followers on social media, do this by adding a call to action and link at the end of your bio.
How to use the guest blogging biography printables…
How to use the guest blogging biography printables that have been added to the visibility planner printables collection.
- Start by pulling out your existing resources, this might be your elevator pitch or about me page on your blog or website. It might be testimonials and recommendations that you have collected.
- Do your research. I recommend researching other guest post profiles and bios. Both on the website you are pitching for and other examples.
- Pull the two things together and draft both a bio to use as a starting point. You should craft a new bio for each post/website as they will all have a slightly different style and purpose. Once written your bio should form part of your personal marketing toolkit.
Other variations of this bio that you could use these printables for might be a Pitch Bio, Press Release Bio or Speaking Engagement Bio.
