Reach out and connect with your real life network on social media.

A lot of you may automatically do this with LinkedIn. If you are not already doing this, you should get into the habit of connecting with your network on LinkedIn as part of your usual networking follow-up.  In addition if you use any other social media platforms for professional networking you may also want to reach out on these as well.

For example I use both LinkedIn and Twitter for professional networking (the other platforms less so). So I will also reach out to connect with people on Twitter as well as LinkedIn. If it lookslist that they do not use their Twitter Account for professional purposes I will decide on a case by case basis whether I will follow them or alternatively, I might just add them to a twitter list.

Quite often people link their twitter accounts to their LinkedIn profile (in the contact details section) which can make them easier to find. If you haven’t already done this – link your accounts so that you are easier to find on all platforms.
