Quick Tip: LinkedIn Groups update

networking tips for LinkedIn

LinkedIn have recently made a number of changes to LinkedIn Groups to help you boost conversations that are happening online with LinkedIn Groups. This includes inproved notifications and visibility in the newsfeed – so make sure your settings are up to date.

Improved Notifications

If you are a group admin you will receive notifications for all new group posts. This is so you are aware of the latest conversations happening within your LinkedIn Group. You can change your notifications by turning on and off the notifications relating to updates from your group. This includes:

  • Approval to join a group
  • Group discussions that mention you
  • Group invitations
  • Posts shared in a group you are in
  • Requests to join a group you’re in
  • Responses to your group posts

This means that you can be fully up to date and ready to engage in conversations.

See Group Conversations in your Newsfeed

To help you discover new conversations, LinkedIn is now showing group conversations in the main newsfeed. has will mean as well as receiving notifications you will see more group content when scrolling through your newsfeed. However, there is still a lot of content and group conversations can still be missed therefore we recommend if you are running a group and want high engagement to get notifications for your group.

Group Invitations

Finally, don’t forget to “turn on” the ability to receive invitations to groups in your LinkedIn settings. You don’t want to be missing out on learning about other groups. Also, this just means you get the invitation (you don’t have to accept).
