What’s the Lifespan of a Social Media Post?
When you are writing your Social Media Strategy and planning the content that you are writing for the next week or month in your Social Media Planner you may want to give some thought to the lifespan of a social media post (if you don’t already).
How long your social media posts can last can tell you which platform is best for a particular piece of content. It can also help you decide on how often you should be posting.
- Twitter – av. lifespan – 15-20 mins.
- Facebook – av. lifespan – 6 hours.
- Instagram – av. lifespan – 24 hours
- LinkedIn – av. lifespan – 24 hours
- YouTube – av. lifespan – 1 month
- Pinterest- av. lifespan – 4 months
- Blogs – av. lifespan – 2 years.
On Twitter, you can legitimately use the same tweet 3-5 times on different days/different times of day and you are likely to have a different audience each time. However, on the other platforms duplicate content will be more obvious and should be mixed up a bit.
